About

FSSAI basic registration is a mandatory registration process required for food businesses in India. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a government agency responsible for regulating and supervising the food industry in the country. Basic registration is required for food businesses that have an annual turnover of less than 12 lakh rupees and are involved in the manufacturing, storage, distribution, or sale of food products. 

Businesses that are required to register with FSSAI must obtain a 14-digit registration or license number, which must be displayed on their food products and premises. Basic registration does not require FSSAI to conduct any inspection of the food business and it is also issued for a period of 1-3 years. The basic registration is issued by the State or Union Territory where the FBO is located. Once the registration is done, the FBO will be issued a 14-digit registration number, which has to be mandatorily displayed on the food packages or in the food premises.
